A Picture-Matching Study: A Closest-Conjunct Agreement
A Closest-Conjunct agreement is the dominant agreement pattern in the South Slavic languages Slovenian, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian. This picture matching study display agreement of the verb with the nonconjoined subject of the clause whose content survives ellipsis. The experiment was based on two controlled variables. Each sentence was parted with the picture, exemplified by figure 1-2, representing with single event interpretation of that sentence.
